We bought two for our university prep room and both have been excellent. The digital controls are clear, stirring is stable at low and mid RPM, and the external probe is very helpful when we need a truer liquid temperature reading.
Arrived quickly from the UK warehouse and was ready to use straight away. The 5-inch ceramic-coated plate is easy to clean after salt solution work, and the unit feels much more solid than some lower-cost lab hotplate stirrer models.
From a research perspective, this is a very capable laboratory magnetic stirrer for day-to-day solution prep. We use it for 1-2L media and buffer work, and the probe-supported heating gives better repeatability than our older analogue unit.
Very good performance and straightforward setup. I would have liked a slightly larger plate for some of our wider glassware, but for standard flasks and beakers it works well and the 1500 RPM top speed is more than enough.
We were comparing this with a pricier IKA option and chose MagneStirr for a teaching lab. It gives us the digital magnetic stirrer features we needed, the probe is included, and the overall value has been excellent.
Used mainly for QC sample mixing and gentle heating of standard solutions. The controls are intuitive and the unit stays compact on the bench. Only minor point is that it is really intended for routine 3L-and-under work, not larger batches.
How to Use
- Place the unit on a stable, level, heat-resistant laboratory bench and connect to a suitable 220-240V UK mains supply.
- Add the appropriate stirrer magnetic bar to your vessel and place the vessel centrally on the ceramic hot plate.
- If liquid temperature monitoring is required, insert the external temperature probe into the sample and secure it safely.
- Switch on the laboratory magnetic stirrer and set the desired stirring speed between 200 and 1500 RPM.
- Set the target heating temperature, then allow the hot plate mixer to reach the required operating condition.
- Monitor the vessel throughout use, adjusting speed or heat as needed for stable mixing and safe operation.
- When finished, turn off heating first, allow the plate to cool, then switch off stirring and clean the surface after use.
